  • Photo slideshows now render at the native pixels of your display (up to 5K) instead of a fixed 1920×1080 frame, so photos are as sharp as the screen allows. Slideshows made earlier are rebuilt automatically the next time Gloam starts.
  • Gloam’s private working copies of your slideshow photos keep their full resolution, so a slideshow can be rebuilt later for a larger display.
  • Scene details report the slideshow’s real resolution instead of always claiming 1920×1080.
  • Slideshows rendered with a keyframe every two seconds are rebuilt the next time Gloam starts, the same way duration and resolution already are, so older scenes shrink without anyone touching Settings.
  • Slideshows that were made before Gloam kept private photo copies are rebuilt from the video itself on the next launch, then those frames are saved as editable copies so Settings and Add Photos work again.

  Fixed

  • Restored the live wallpaper catalog for public builds, which had been empty.
  • Photo slideshows now appear on the desktop immediately instead of waiting for lock-screen preparation, and failed playback is reported instead of showing a false Playing state — including during multi-file imports.
  • Deleting a scene now removes it immediately, commits atomically, and switches away from it if it was playing.
  • Deleting your last scene restores your Apple wallpaper and clears staged lock-screen media.
  • Quick Switch keeps every scene in a fixed position and moves a checkmark instead of shuffling the selected row.
  • Favourite order survives relaunches and catalog refreshes.
  • Dragging media onto My Scenes performs the import instead of only highlighting the drop zone.
  • File pickers and drag-and-drop accept the same formats, and multi-file imports report partial failures as one combined result.
  • Long slideshow renders show per-photo progress and can be cancelled without leaving a half-built scene.
  • Updating a slideshow swaps its rendered video atomically and preserves its name, mood, favourite, and scene identity.
  • My Scenes owns drag-and-drop once, and scene-deletion failures now use the correct error message.
  • My Scenes search filters your scenes, and a stale search clears when you navigate away.
  • The returning-session welcome no longer interrupts a file picker or slideshow setup.

  • Launch restores another playable scene when the previous file is unavailable, and runtime refreshes switch away from missing media.
  • Explore search and download failures show actionable error and retry states.
  • The scene you pick now stays put. Auto mode was on by default and re-picked a scene every minute, so a photo slideshow was replaced by a video shortly after you applied it.
  • Auto mode only changes the wallpaper when the time of day or weather mood actually changes, and it never picks a scene at random.
  • Choosing a scene yourself switches the menu bar to Manual; turning Auto back on applies its pick right away.
  • The installer window again opens with the branded background and drag-to-Applications arrangement.
  • Photo slideshow videos now use a stable 2 fps stream and last exactly the duration shown in the app, instead of sparse frames adding an extra photo interval. Existing affected slideshows are rebuilt automatically from Gloam’s private photo copies.
  • “Add Photos…” in scene details now opens the photo picker. The library window already owned two pickers and SwiftUI silently refused to present a third, so the button did nothing.
  • Slideshow videos are a third of their previous size at the same resolution and duration: identical frames between slides no longer force a keyframe every two seconds.

  Privacy

  • Photo slideshows are rendered entirely on your Mac from files you pick yourself.
  • Gloam keeps private app-owned editing copies of slideshow photos locally, without linking back to your originals or uploading personal media.
  • Gloam never asks for Photos-library access and never uploads your videos or photos.
  • Removed the unused analytics and crash-reporting SDKs.
  • Location is no longer requested during onboarding. Optional weather context explains its third-party processing.
